Big Bag Emptying Station
The big bag emptying station consists of a supporting frame with a lifting beam for the chain hoist and a loading
platform for the big bag. The big bag is connected to the outlet system for a dust tight connection of the big bag
outlet.

The tensioning of the outlet spout is pneumatically operated. The big bag outlet is pulled over the inner tube with the sealing flange in the open position. The operator then lowers the sealing flange manually and secures the outlet. The system is sealed to the outside by profile seals. Dust escaping through the inner seal returns to the main product flow. A venting filter is connected to the big bag outlet connecting system with an automatic valve. The filter prevents the creation of dust during operation, product loss and cross contamination and allows the venting of the system during the opening of the big bag and the fluidization (with filtration) required for the transfer of the powder with the PTS system. To ensure that no dust escapes after the emptying process when removing the empty big bag, the air must be evacuated and the big bag tied off. To evacuate the air, the suction is created thanks to the PTS and the automatic valve is closed thanks to a switch. The PTS system is operated until no air is present in the big bag.

Containment & Explosion protection A currently realized project for a pharmaceutical company in France consisted of the loading of a reactor with a humid, difficult product containing methanol solvent. The light-sensitive and allergic product (minimum ignition energy < 1 mJ) is stored in big bags in refrigerated containters (0-4 °C). The big bags are emptied into a reactor. The transfer takes place by means of a PTS system which is installed on top of the reactor and connected to the big bag emptying station installed on load cells. The PTS is sucking the humid product through its high vacuum out of the big bags and conveys it into the reactor by pressure. As the product is not free flowing, a special fluidized lump breaker is integrated at the big bag outlet to ensure a continuous product flow.
